Carlos Garcia '27I am majoring in biochemistry and I have a deep interest in viruses. I like to watch science videos about how viruses infect hosts, and learn about the immune system. I am currently researching how the Lyn kinase, important for antibody production, is regulated. To do this, I am working towards understanding its structural features and how it interacts with Csk kinase. In my free time, I like to think about the world and possible future technologies. I also like to fence and explore nature.

Safaa Mohamed Aly '28I am a Biochemistry and Economics double major on the pre-med track from Twin Falls, Idaho. My research focuses on MEK and ERK protein kinases, which play a crucial role in intracellular signaling pathways, particularly the MAPK pathway. My research aims to determine whether specific mutation sites on MEK affect its binding to ERK or alter MEK’s structural integrity and function. Outside of the lab, I enjoy reading novels, cooking, and going for walks.
